Gifts in Wills

By leaving a gift (also known as a bequest) in your will to Australian Contemporary Opera Fund, you will make a lasting and unique difference to Australian audiences and talent.

Your gift will help ACOCO create, educate and elevate, connect to the community, and secure a sustainable future for operatic storytelling in Australia.

How to Leave a Gift in your Will

If you’re considering leaving a gift to Australian Contemporary Opera Company in your will, we would love to talk to you and hear about the areas of our work you would like to support.

Family and loved ones should always come first.
It is an important step to talk to family and loved ones about your will. Communication will ensure your final wishes are carried out.

Seek legal and financial advice when drafting your will. The wording is very important and a solicitor can advise you on the different types of gifts (noted below).

Please tell us you have included a gift to ACOCO in your will, so that we can speak to you about your wishes and ensure that we recognise your future support for ACOCO.

Types of gifts in wills

Due to the nature of our work in creating jobs and audiences for Australian talent through staged productions, gifts that are for general operations have the greatest impact. Gifts can also be made for future capital works or specific programs.

Please consult legal and financial advice as you consider what type of bequest you would like to leave to ACOCO:

Residuary Gift
Whereby you leave a percentage of the residue of your estate after all debts and expenses have been paid, to one or more beneficiaries.

Pecuniary Legacy
A specific sum of money you wish to leave, e.g. $10,000.

Specific Bequest
With which you leave your whole estate or a particular item.
An example of this would be property.
