Due to the size of our team, we're sorry we may not be able to hear everyone.

 

This time round, we will need to prioritise singers whose skills align with our plans for 2024-2026.

 

If your voice type and skills match our repertoire needs,

we will invite you to book an audition on one of the above dates.

*Interstate artists are welcome to provide materials as per form below for consideration remotely.

RISING ARTIST INFO

You will be a recent graduate/highly privately-trained artist, committed to operatic storytelling for the 21st century.

​

As a Rising Artist and member of ACOCO, our 2025-2026 season offers a variety of roles, including small ensemble, Supporting or Minor Principal, and subject to repertoire and experience, cover or performance of Principal roles.

​

​

YOU WILL BE:

A trained classical singer (to a Bachelor degree level, or higher).

Versatile and collegiate - open to new ideas and contemporary practice in a musical and theatrical context.

Eager to expand your contemporary operatic repertoire, professional CV and skills as an operatic storyteller.

Committed to using voice, text, music and theatre to create a compelling connection with audiences.

Willing to work in a repertory team-context: including performing ensemble & small roles.

Have flexibility to accommodate rehearsal periods and performance dates.

Capable of independent score-learning, turning up prepared and off-book for production rehearsals​

Melbourne-based, or prepared to move to Melbourne at your own cost.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Rehearsal schedule generally runs across late afternoon/weeknights and Saturdays

Other dates/times may be required when related to performance activities.

 

We ask for maximum flexibility:

1. until the the schedule is set for each project, and

2. during production weeks, when illness etc. can require last-minute schedule change.

​

Production rehearsals (off-book) and corporate Performances are paid at Live Performance Award minimum rate.

Music Coaching, Stagecraft and Preparatory calls are provided (mandatory for Rising Artists).

Performance at Master Classes and Aria Intensives by invitation.

Our season includes performances as part of promotional activity and at ACOCO fundraising events.

ACOCO is funded through private philanthropy (donations/grants/in kind support) and box-office/event income. Our artist-led company is fuelled by goodwill and dedicated to building the future for the art form and the next generation of practitioners.
