About the event
An invitation to join us for the Young Artist concert and join us afterward, to learn more about something that we believe is a treasure for the Yarra Valley community. For the past 3 years, The Australian Contemporary Opera Company (formerly Gertrude Opera) has presented the Yarra Valley Opera Festival - an event that has brought international standard contemporary opera to the Yarra Valley. With our beautiful scenery, terrific food and wine and great places to stay, the Yarra Valley Opera Festival is a perfect complement to all that the Yarra Valley has to offer. The Festival is modeled on internationally well-established garden-opera format such as Glyndebourne, Garsington and The Grange in the UK. We are lucky to have this here in our community.
Last year, in the depths of the lockdown, ACOCo ‘staged' the Yarra Valley Opera Festival in an online format, with performers 'beaming in’ from New York, Los Angeles, China, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Mexico City - and all over Australia. It was an extraordinary feat, artistically and logistically, eliciting rave reviews, and again, wonderfully showcased the charms of the Yarra Valley.
Mary and I, and our good friends, Simon and Liz Wincer, are inviting you to join us for an exclusive post-concert function in the Nan Francis Room at the Healesville Memo Hall on Sunday, July 18 at 3:30pm. Linda Thompson and the ACOCo team will share with us their vision for the Yarra Valley Opera Festival and give us a taste of the magic that is contemporary opera performance.
